Hi,
Have an Ariston microcombi 27 MFFI which has just developed a fault.
We have hot water but when asked for CH the boiler fires up and starts but only for 15 secs then it shuts off and won't fire again. Have looked closely at the manual and online for answers but had no luck.
The general consensus online with this type of fault on combi's seems to be the diverter valve at fault but looking at the exploded view in the manual there isn't one listed and looking at pics of a diverter valve I can't see anything that looks like that in this boiler.
Any help much appreciated.

Your boiler has a twin pass heat exchanger meaning no diverter valve, if you havent used the heating for a while it could be a stuck pump.

well the heating has been on a few times recently without problem but the pump does feel quite hot to the touch. Does this boiler need the pump for hot water or is the pump just for the heating ? As I say the hot water is fine but the pump still feels hot when the heating is off.

If it is a pump problem can it be freed up without removing from boiler.

It seems likely the pump is seized.

Read the FAQ here for suggestions on how it might be made to turn.

Just to update this problem. The pump was jammed - took the button out of the front and gave it a turn with big screwdriver, took a bit of force but eventually gave way and we now have a warm house again.

Thank you to all that helped with this fault.
