Hi guys

So my duo tec boiler is slowly dropping pressure

Checked the rads etc for leaks.

I've noticed if I turn the red spindle on the prv inside the boiler there seems to be some water escaping between the nuts. I've tried to tighten these up but it makes no difference and still leaks

I take it this isn't normal!

Does the prv need replacing? Seems difficult to remove.

Thanks in advance appreciate it

Edit: just to add I isolated the boiler from underneath. Left it about 7 hours and the pressure needle didn't seem to drop.

1. Once the PRV has been operated, they often don't reseal properly. Replacement is not a DIY activity, it requires a GSR engineer.
2. Try the isolation test again, but this time leave it for 24 hours. If there is definitely no pressure loss, then you have a leak on the central heating (or hot water if not a combi).
3. Tie a "bow" of toilet paper around the pipes to each radiator valve. If one or more droops after the heating has been on, that pipe has a small leak, probably the nuts to the radiator valve.
4. If 3. above shows no leaks, then it may be so small the water is evaporating before hitting the paper. Time for professional leak investigation.
5. If by slow, you mean it drops 0.5 bar in 6 months, you have nothing to worry about. Top the pressure up twice a year, and add inhibitor every couple of years.

Thanks for replying

Well I used to top it up every couple of months but been daily last week

I'll perform the tests again and see what happens!

Thanks again really appreciated
