Firstly, thank you everyone who replied on my previous post.
All electrics in and certified.

I am loosening all the switches and sockets in the kitchen for the tiler to get on.
However I have a boiler timer switch type Lifestyle LP522 which I need to loosen or prise from the wall. I cannot find any screws or brackets to release it. I do not want to pull to hard in case I damage the wires.
Any ideas on how to loosen it please.

Thanks in advance.

Willa,
there are two small screws on the bottom edge close to the wall. Loosen these right off, then you can pull the cover away at the bottom. Then lift upwards to remove. You will leave the back plate still fixed to the wall.

Looks like the 2 x holes when the flap is open will either have plastic barbs (spring clip to open) or grub screws.

Post back your findings please.

no, that's not the screws.

like regsmyth says, they are underneath the bottom, facing up.

The hole in the white casing is sort of keyhole shaped, so that when you have undone the screws enough for the heads to come out of the white casing, you can tilt the bottom of the white part outwards, leaving the screws in the black backplate. the shafts of the screws passes through the slot in the white case. The case has a row of pins along the back surface near the top, these plug into slots in the black wallplate.

You need a small electricians screwdriver as they are small screws.

There is a pair of retaining lugs at the top that will come out when you tilt the casing up from the bottom

Note that the terminals on the backplate are LIVE (like you unless maybe you touch them

disconnect power before removing or refitting the programmer as there may be a spark or surge that could damage the electronics.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Found the screws okay.

JohnD, can the timer be removed from the backplate temporarily and still function.ie do the slots along the top act like a sort of computer plug and carry the power and relays?

I have no intention of doing any electrical work. The cert. electrician has done all that. Just need to pack it out for a day for the tiler.

By the way mine does not have a Mr. Blobby attached. Is this still okay?

Thanks again. Saved me a lot of time and money.

the pins and slots are like a plug and socket. The programmer has a rechargable battery inside, I forget how long it holds the settings for, it is meant to maintain the clock during power cuts. Once you have taken the programmer off, the boiler will no longer run but the terminals on the backplate are still live.

Incidentally the backplate is an industry standard and lots of other programmers will fit on the same connections, if your old one ever fails. Check the instructions first though. they should have a list of compatible models, and/or say what each pin does.

I find a Blobby is essential for all working parts, but yours may run without one.
