boiler wont fire-glowworm ultimate 50FF

Still got probs guys and a heating guy came round today. He cleaned the pilot light and put a new thin lead on it.

He turned the thermastat right up and it lit up straight away. Fantastic i thought. Soon as he left the boiler went out. Left a message for him but he cant come back until friday evening!! He mentioned a replacement PCB board.

I have just tried it again. Horray, it fired up and then 5mins it goes out yet again so back to square 1. I'm ready to throw it in the bin

Try reading what it says,,, it sparks but does nothing else it will light for a moment then goes out..... This does not mention main burner or indicate main burner in my eyes and if it was overheating the boiler has a manual reset over heat stat

I reckon its getting to temp before the O/H stat trips out.

THe burner has lit. Some customers say they only see a flame for a minute when in fact 15mins have passed

I still think that this is either pump or valve problem. If it turns out to be the pilot aseembly namsag, i'll buy you a beer :)

William...

Read my other post and check your pump. Its not hard to do and we can talk you through it.

You may end up saving money as i dont think it needs a new PCB

Undercover with latest info you maybe right , would check solenoids on gas valve if pump is ok

Right. I've found the pump next to the hot water tank. Did what you said undercover. It is hot. The pipes afterwards are warm. Is that OK.

I saw the big screw in the middle of the pump. I have a screwdriver to fit. What now. I'm scared that water will flow out if i undo it.

THats Ok. First you need to check your pump is working. With the boiler calling for heating you should feel/hear it vibrating. Then make sure that your heating and hot water is off at the programmer. Then remove the pump screw. Some water will drip out so have a towel ready to mop it up. It will stop. Next, gently put your screwdriver in and try and turn the spindle. Slowly clockwise. Turn the heating on and see if its spinning (again , no water will drip out. Put the pump screw back and let me know what you found.
