Boiler wont work, no heat or hot water.

Hello,

our boiler seems to have stopped working, it has a red light on next to a sign of a water droplet with a line through, im assuming its the pressure light?

if you press it, it goes out and it seems to kick off but then the red light goes out but after 10seconds it goes back on

Sorry if i posted in wrong section, just need to get this fixed, i have 2 young children in the house

Some biasis have a little push button that you need to press to get it going again. Even if that works, there is probably something else wrong with the boiler.

rubbish boiler! like bengasman says check the reset think its under the black nob at the side of the light (just unscrew it)

i unscrewed the black screw and it seemed like a little red button, but it wont push it, didnt want to apply a great deal of force, but enough for a button to go in.

any ideas?

Is not the reset under the black cover the overheat reset

The red light usually means ignition lockout for some reason.

If resetting does not work, I suggest finding good RGI. Though these boilers are not overly difficult to work on, you do need to know what you are doing, and have the tools to do things correctly.

i cant reset it, the button wont go in?

Fold the front down, & see if the pump has leaked on to a temperature sensor (on a pipe/lump of brass, I forgot, but with a wire to it) underneath. If so, turn off the leccy, dry it with tussue and a hair dryer and try again. Otherwise, all the possible faults look like gasman jobs.

A red light is a failure to ignite!

There can be several causes but viewing through the window will give a clue. If you see a spark there there is no gas getting to the burner.

If you see no spark then there is a fault before the ignition phase.

In either case you need a competent registered gas engineer.

These are very simple and reliable boilers and anyone compentent will diagnose the fault in a few minutes.
