Hello. My Vaillant (heat only) Ecotec boiler (about 12 years old) trips (F23) when I turn the radiator temperature up beyond 60C. It started having this problem when the weather got cold last autumn, suggesting that the problem is the temperature differential...
I definitely have some sludge that needs clearing and the pump is a bit noisy...
There is clearly no point in replacing the boiler without a de-sludge and new pumps, but would it be worth trying a de-sludge and a new pump before replacing the boiler?
Any insights welcomed!

Dirty system water is what kills boilers and component, so yes, of course you should get it cleaned. And it should be kept clean.

Much the same as your cardiovascular system.

Certainly worth getting it looked at or trying a cleanser yourself. Depends on how bad the system is.

Check status codes D.40 & D.41, boiler flow and return temps, F23 shouldnt annunciate until a 35C dT?.
Also. If the circ pump is A rated, it might display the pump power in watts,W.
