My boiler pilot light only fires up for a few seconds then goes back down to a pilot light? Resulting in cold radiators and water.
The room thermostat is turned up and the boiler setting is on high, what could the problem be?

I presume that the pilot light is taying lit all the time. "My boiler pilot light only fires up for a few seconds ", and what you actually mean is that the main burner lights for a few seconds "then goes back down to a pilot " which indicates that the flame failure device for the main burner has failed. As this is a safety device, it is illegal for anyone not qualified to repair it. Call a CORGI registed gas engineer. Not kidding about the illegal bit.
