Hi all

Looking at installing a number of metal bollard lights along a driveway. Earthing arrangement is PME.

What does everyone think about exporting the PME outside the property. I'm thinking of installing a rod(s) and making this TT.

Running SWA outside (isolating the earth). RCD protection .Connecting into galv y boxes within the fittings and flex to the terminations of the lights. Installing rod outside and connecting to the lights.

Interested in other people's thoughts.

Thanks

Exporting the earth - certainly not.

Installing an earth rod - is that likely to do anything, considering the bollards are metal and will presumably be at least partly buried in the ground?

Galv boxes are all very well, but is there room inside the bollards?

Definately use an earth rod as you are fitting them on concrete slabs which will prevent the lamp body making good reliable contact with the ground.

Also as the body is aluminium and will have some intermittant contact with ground the need to ensure the lamp body is at true ground potential is necessary to prevent electrolytic erosion of the lamp.

They seem very expensive.

There are lower cost alternatives, one source is
