hi folks,
i have just had a new white oak staircase installed and at the moment the wood is untreated.
I do not want to varnish or stain the staircase or have a shiny slippery surface. I just simply want to give it some protection to enhance its natural colour, grain and markings without making it slippery underfoot. the staircase is domestic and im not allowed in the house with shoes on (as the wife says) so it will only ever be walked on in slippers or bare foot.
I have spoken with the joiner who has basically said the two products above (Bona naturale or Danish oil) would be ok.
I just thought i would ask the question to any knowing experts who have used both products or who have a preference between the products which they think is best and which is easiest to apply for a DIYer without messing it up.
Also with regard to the danish oil i have done some research onine and there appears to be a number of brands which one will provide a nice matt finish.
thanks in advance
