Hello All,

Does anybody know of any books or the like, where I can find information on the 'bending & setting' of steel conduit please ??

Many thanks,

Ed.

Brian Scaddan's book "Electrical installation Work" has some pages on this. You are better off finding a crusty old spark to show you the ropes if you want to learn the skills..

The old C&G 2360 course included this bit of fun.

it's really easy.. once you know the tricks..

unfortunately the only way to learn the tricks is through repeated trial and error.. but I'll try to impart some knowledge if I can..

you need to use a scrap piece of conduit to determine the length to add to the bend to take into account the radius..

mark a piece 500mm from end A..
place in the bender with the mark at the back of the former and bend.

measure from end A to the back of the bend.. this gives you a figure ( X )once deducted from the 500mm ( usually works out to about 40mm for 20mm conduit.. )

this is the amount you need to ADD to the measurement when bending from end A to get the right measurement once bent..

to bend from end B, you need a set square..

mark the size and use the set square to position the mark at the front of the former..
