Wherever you like - but usually done to line up with (or just above) a window ledge or a door handle.
if its a bathroom make sure its above the sink hight
Do it like this.
Make sure you start centre of the window so you have equal cuts either side

What happens when the shower feed pipe meets the bath? Why didn't you chase out the wall out to conceal it?
had this last time i posted this picture. I drilled an hole in the edge of the bath and ran it behind it 
But seriously now, the customer decided he wanted a shower AFTER i had tiled the walls. The bathroom is so tiny that the sink overhangs the bath slightly. The pipe runs down then 90 degrees to the sink to where it is conected to the cold inlet for the sink.
