ah, if only there was some way of looking at their record, or their election literature, or finding out what the local council does.

I would suggest if someone wants my vote they put the effort in to sell themselves to me. They're the one that wants my vote. No effort made, no vote.

I presume if you've ever been in the market for a job, you'd know it's up to the candidate to impress the hiring manager, seldom the other way around.
