Bosch Exxcel dishwasher intermittently stops

It starts running and then lights go out and it stops. I then tap the front and it jumps back into action and carries on where it left off. It then may do this a few more times or jsut run to completion.
Any ideas on where I need to start looking?

Bad power switch/loose connection?
You need to remove the control panel & check. Post the model & E number if you need further information.

It's an SGS43E08GB/43. It's now got worse however. It keeps on pumping when the lights go out on the front and even when the cycle has finished. HELP!

As well as a bad connection issue someplace it sounds like you may also have a leak which has activated the anti-flood protection device. Lean the machine back (or forward) & let the water run off the base plate (have some old towels ready). You ought to be able to re-start afterward. The leak will need tracking down (if there is one). Unusual combination of faults to get at the same time.......
