The machine is working OK (5 years old) but the symptoms are (during/following wash cycles):

1. Clunking metallic sound (a bit like a chain being rattled) when water is being pumped out - several times during a wash cycle, but not every time.

2. After the wash is finished there's a king of hissing/squeaking noise coming from the liquids drawer, as if some kind of pressure is being released. Can go on for 2 or 3 minutes, even with no power to machine.

Does any of this mean anything to the experts on the forum? I'd hazard a guess at a dodgy pump, so any estimates of repair/replacement charges?

1st...sounds like something in the pump filter. if not, new pump maybe.....pattern replacement about £20-£30.
2nd...hissing is probably a blockage in the water trap at the top rear of the machine. had a few of these & should only require a good clean out. its a follow your nose job.
look for the water tank that takes the waste pipe.
remove & clean....job done !
