For about two weeks now this 4/5 yr old machine has not completed a wash cycle.Midway through a cycle it will stop and the indicator lights will flash alternately between "start" and "spin/pump" ; my partner at this point manually moves programme on but feels that machine is not giving a proper wash.On examination tonight i found a bra wire in the discharge hose from the drum to the pump and felt this must have been affecting the purpose of the plastic ball therein , however problem remains. One more point worth making is that the impeller on the pump gives a little resistance before falling forward like the effect that used to be when firing up an old car on the cranking handle. Does this make sense to anyone, with help from yourseves i would love to crack this one. Thanks in anticipation...John.

Thanks for reply beezer but manual non-specific and does not cover particular symptom..........John.

If you can get the machine to finish its cycle by moving the programme on there can't be much wrong with it. I had a problem with a Hotpoint machine once where it stopped for no apparent reason. I traced the problem to an open circuit solenoid on one of the water inlets. This resulted in the machine half filling but stopping because it couldn't complete its cycle - could explain why it doesn't seem to wash very well. It's worth checking.
