hello everyone, hope you are well.
I want to get a break tank, 500litres - probably going for a https://pumpexpress.co.uk/shop/powertank-utility-variable-speed-water-pressure-booster/
I want to put it indoors , in the utility room.
i'm a bit concerned about the point loading of it, its gonna be 550kg or so on a 60 cm diameter spot. which may or may not go over a single joist / 2 joists or whatever is under the floor.
i dont know what is under the floor where i want to put it, but it is tiled and has underfloor heating possibly - I'm not entirely sure as we have not been here long and havent had the heating on and i cant test it right now as we are having a heat pump fitted and have no heating. when i do a tap test on the tiles, i get what sounds like hollow for 40cm then not hollow etc. so it might be joists, badly installed tiles or block and beam.
the place i want to put it is right next to an external wall, so i think there should be at least 30 cm of solid foundation under at least part of it. please tell me if i am wrong about that.
should i be cutting and lifting some tiles to find out what is under it?
my mate is a metal worker and he can cut me some 8 cm steel box section that i could make 2 or more runners out of and lay along the floor, one end on the foundations and the rest layoing along the wall to spread the weight, and put a steel base on top of it to sit the tank on, with some high density rubber under the steels to prevent point loading / cracking the tiles.
see pictures and photos for more info..
plumber said just put it in it will be fine....
am i worrying about nothing or should i be concerned?
