bricking up a doorway

I want to brick up an internal door way no longer required. I have removed the architrave and door casing and want to know do you also need to remove the floorboard where the bricks will be now or can you just build onto of the board?
 
I was going to then I thought it would be better to brick it up pernamently as we are not moving house and dont need the door. Plus I have lots of used bricks outside that i eant to put to good use
