Hi everyone hope you can help, I am bricking up an open fireplace and have been told that I need to put a vent on the wall to prevent condensation on the chimney wall, I am already capping the chimney with a vented ceramic cover can anyone shed any light on this for me. Your help will be much appreciated, I would rather not have a vent stuck on my wall.

put the vent on the outside wall. If you dont vent top and bottom you will regret it. Why not vent right at the bottom, cover with insect mesh and then skirt over having drillled a dozen 10mm holes in the skirting
