So I’ve got an issue I’ve been ignoring since I bought our 1934 house 28 yrs ago.
You will see a couple of iron railings were inserted into the front wall. I guess the bit that goes into the wall has rusted and on expanding has caused a bit of damage which I’ve consistently ignored but I can’t really ignore any longer.
The house is block work except for this brickwork on the front. I imagine it’s just a skin.
God knows if I will find anything that will remotely match these bricks - any thoughts gratefully received on that?
I guess I’m safe grinding the rail close to the wall. I then planned to cause least disturbance by putting the cut end on a galvanised bracket. Break out the broken brickwork and rebuild. The bottom bricks affected are sat on a bitumen DPC. What do I need to think about there?
Any thoughts warnings suggestions? Or Shall I just get a builder in!!
Bricks seem to be 222mm x 111mm
