Is it possibe to attach a basketball hoop to this wall?

It's a victorian house and the bricks are very crumbly / flaky and in a bad state really. I tried using large bolts but it didn't work - a couple of basket shots made it start to pop loose (see pics). There are some newer bricks from installing a trifold door - but these are a bit low for the basket, and it would hang in front of the doorway.

It feels a bit risky to the brickwork to try any further, and we can live without it so proabbly just going to take it down. Just wanted to check thoughts in case I've missed some other obvious solution that could work with old bricks?

I think to be honest I might just give up
 
There is no reason why you couldn’t fix to this wall. It looks to me the only reason these bolts have failed is because the holes are too big. Move the hoop slightly over and use 10mm concrete bolts with a 10mm masonry drill bit.



 
Fix a vertical timber to wall ( to spread load) and then fix bracket to that .
