Brickwork mot matching

Just had extension started and brickwork around dampcourse is engineering bricks which i understand but will not match to existing house brick, the front is being rendered but will still see orange bricks

As they're engineering bricks and the original isn't then obviously they won't match.

You could have matched with what looks like LBC heathers or similar, but modern practice is to use engineering bricks below DPC. For good reason, we have a few popped LBC bricks below DPC on our old house.

It shouldn't be very visible once rendered. You could have used Crimson instead of orange bricks, but you are where you are!
 
Why on earth have they mixed blocks and brick like that? Differential movement and all that. Probably be OK but still.
