Hi,

under the lead pipe relacement i need to lay a sleeved insulated pipe under the footings to below the pavement from the front room, the foundations are shallow so its just clay at the depth required but is their a tool i can hire to drill the hole (approx 1 meter) horizontally under the house wall? i dont want to dig a huge hole as their is a risk of unsettling the wall.

ps, i have dug down, just need to go accross now

cheers for any advice

truman

How far in the front room are you going.
When I was faced with putting pipe under foundations in kitchen, I broke through kitchen floor first and dug out to the required depth (750 mms)

Getting under the foundations was not difficult, the material was not hard.
I did have the use of a SDS Drill (using the 12 in chisel) to loosen it and a narrow tapered spade. If you opt for a SDS drill you might consider getting a longer chisel

I did the same in the rear yard. Went under a 6ft wall from the inside only.
