Britain has lost its Common sense! Computer Age

I completely agree.

It all started with the 'nanny state'. I don't know whose brainwave this was, but since then the government and its many QUANGOs have been discouraging people to think for themselves (in case they should hurt themselves) and, instead, have been telling us all what we should be doing and how we should be doing it.

No wonder, then, that common sense has all but disappeared.

You've probably seen this on the news....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-22338210

Not only did some idiot paint double yellow lines on BOTH side of an alley far too narrow to get a car down, but they've now been back to go to the trouble of painting them black, and then will return again to burn off the paint. Pretty stupid to do it in the first place, but once it had been done, is it really necessary to go back (twice) to remove them again??

I seriously wonder how some people make it through each day...

Oh and I saw another news report yesterday where they painted double yellow lines between parking bays only about 17" long, this was to prevent people parking overshooting disabled bays.

But they are forgetting that any section of double yellow lines must also be supported by a sign-post without which the traffic order is invalid and any tickets issued can be appealed and parking fines quashed! I think it was Norwich City Council who did that one.

People forget the bill was generated by a machine.

True, but people also forget that the machine was programmed by idiots!

If the programmer incorporated any balances less than a pound then ignore further action! it bloody cost nearly 50p to send a letter now. Not to mention the time it takes to put one together and take it to a post box.
