Britannia Range - Oven control knob spindle has snapped

Not wanting to spend £133 on a new control assembly, I thought I'd ask on here first. Not sure why but I've checked the rest of the controls and the outer ones have plastic spindles, yet the inner ones are metal. Weird. Anyway, anybody know if these can be pulled out or replaced somehow ?
