Broken brick - how/should I fix this?

Hello,

I recently had Openreach install Fibre to my house. I've just noticed that they have damaged a brick where they have terminated it at the house.

It looks like a whole chunk has come away and is just sitting loose in there.

Do I need to worry about fixing this? If yes, what product can I use?

The brick is located next to the front door in a covered porch so will only get wet in very extreme conditions.

Not a worry, but could push some clear mastic sealant adhesive stuff into it

If you're really keen, you could patch it with mortar. You can get a red dye to make the colour a bit more realistic.

It's very hard to work out what's what from your close-up, but isn't there a whole chunk blown out and missing from the brick above and a wall plug dangling in the air?

They've drilled way too close to a corner. Did you choose the spot for it? Even if you did they should have told you this would happen.

Get them to move it and repair the damage, or pay for someone to do it.

You could probably get a couple of matching sample bricks, if you know what they are.

Phone your Utility company and complain. Whilst not particularly structurally relevant, it would be a bastad to fix. The idiot that damaged your bricks with that close-to-the-edge drilling, should be beaten with his drill bit.
