Broken wet verge

During a storm the other week I noticed in my parents house a concrete tile had fallen down. When I got up to it I didn't notice any nail holding down the tile and it seemed to held in by the mortar. In the third photo you can see it's a very small run just from the chimney flashing to the gutter and I'm tempted to try and fix this myself. Would it be best to knock out all the old verge and replace it with a wet verge or should I try and replace this with a dry verge?

Further up the valley it seems like another part of the verge needs to be replaced too but it's a bit awkward to get to.

Get a couple of bags of remix .
Clear out all the old mortar and re bed the verge , use a screw and not a nail for added security .

I would mix myself 3-1 with the 3 being half sharp sand and normal building sand. And do the valley at the same time. You may also need some new under-cloak cement board.
