Hi guys

New to the forum, I'm getting a dry verge system installed at the moment to replace my mortar verge which is failing. I can see how the mortar will prevent water getting in and wetting the battens, how does a dry verge keep water out?

From what I can see the caps are screwed to the battens (which have been extended) and fit over the tiles at the top but as they are just sitting on top of the tiles can water seep in between the flap and the top of the tile etc and wet the battens? Am I just being thick?!

Thanks

It does not matter if battens get wet (as the do under the tiles anyway), but that they don't stay wet and can dry.

Thanks Woody, appreciate the reply - thought I was missing something!

Basically my roofer has removed the mortar from the verge, extended the battens and fixed the dry verge caps onto the new piece. As the tops of the caps are just 'sitting' on the tiles I was concerned about wind blown rain entering the top of the cap and wetting the batten if it drips off the end of the tile inside the cap.

That seems like that is how they are fitted, and the roofer could not fit them any other way.

They are not sealed with sealant or anything, if that is what you was thinking.

Conveniently useless springs to my mind, I use the continues dry
verge system which comes in 5mtr lengths.
