A few of our double glazed window handles have sheared off as they are quite old and pretty cheap. The bathroom top window in particular is bad as it won't fully seal unless you slam it shut which unfortunately resulted in the handle snapping and bits of dry mortar falling from behind the slightly shrunken industrial sealant each time it closes.

We are no way in a position to buy new windows so does anyone know of a good, reasonable priced service in the Cheshire area that would repair the handles and hinge so it shuts without having to slam it ?

Thanks

I would but upon peeling off the sticky tabs I find the handle fixing is riveted, not screwed.

Can you post some pics?
Pop rivet guns are only about £7 on ebay with some rivits. You would need to drill out the rivets with a 4.8mm drill bit, The tricky part is not going too deep and hitting the glass. Ideally you would want a drill with a depth gauge.

If you dont want to risk it yourself your best off going into some local double glazing company's, Take some photos with you.
