I don't plaster every day, but I have done a fair bit recently refurbishing my house, and I can now get a near perfect finish on plasterboard. But anytime I go over bonding or hardwall, I seem to get occasional small patches where little bubbles form in the finish that can only be dealt with when the last coat is nearly dry. It can't be over-trowelling since they pop up in the first coat where i'm just whacking it on quick as possible, and I get a normal finish over most of the wall. Could anyone give me ideas on what i'm doing wrong and how to avoid it? I trowel the basecoat flat, wait for it to feel firm to the touch, scratch it, then skim same day without pva or damping down.
It's not a major issue since I deal with any remaining imperfections when I paint, but i've only got one little wall left that needs a basecoat, it may be the last I ever have to plaster, and if it doesn't turn out the smoothest wall in the history of creation, I won't feel I've really mastered the skillset.
