Hi

I have heard that you should use a builders profile when building (large double garage) to ensure the levels are correct, firstly is this true, and secondly where can you buy these or can you make one, I have looked in usual DIY stores but cant find one.

Regards

Ian

I think what your looking for is called a blakes profile.
I dont know if they are used much or not...id guess a good laser level on a tripod would suffice

blakes profile .....like a beanpole in a mac :? catchphrase I hate you butler

If it is building profiles you are after have a look for PT profiles ( usually a good deal on ebay )which i think are more user friendly but would suggest that the reason they cannot be found in diy stores is that they are not really a diy piece of kit that would require a bit more than diy bricky skills to use to gain the full potential of them ,plus what they will set you back would possibly be better spent on getting someone to build it for you, that said good luck, and go for it if you feel up to it as they are handy and i use them nearly every day

Blakes profiles are normally only used by price brickies, for Diy they are too expensive, at over £100 a pop.
They don't tell you the 4 corners of your garage are level, only good for plumb and gauge at the corners, and are quick for running in of brickwork.
If you make sure your 4 corners are level, then just build gauge from there up.
A cheap method of finding out if the 4 corners are level, is with a water level. Long piece of plastic see through pipe, hold one end up higher than the one corner, fill with water till it goes past the dpc, (get all air bubbles out) then hold the other end up over the other corner, measure the difference between water levels and 2 corners, tells you how much your out
