There is one more practical method that would be cheaper than those so far suggested. If you wanted to do a bit of ground work. You could lay a drainage system beneath your slab to lead away the water behind the retaining wall. The retaining wall could then be the front wall of the shed.

Good point. In some areas, the need for planning permission also kicks in if you build within 1 metre of your boundary. In our area this applies to garages, (and also to sheds if they are not "substantially built of non inflamable materials").
