Hi, I'm building a fireplace using a design known as a rumford. I need to cast the throat but not sure what materials to use that won't be affected by heat. Am I ok with a cement mix.... should I use some of the vermiculite I'm using behind the brick firebox?? I've had a look around Internet for preformed parts but the standard UK stuff isn't suitable. Help please!
