Hi all,

We've got some bulbs out in our industrial [light] unit, I've taken 1 out of the holding unit [which is quite large itself] and it has the following on it;

Venture
HIE 400W/C/HBU/EURO
USA KR85

I've done some googling and found that its a GES E40 connector and that I probably don't want to replace with the exact same bulb as it has a radioactive gas within it.

I've found a few alternatives which I believe to be suitable but they all talk of either internal or external ignition.

There is nothing on the current bulb to suggest if it is internal or external, can someone help?

Thanks,

Aaron

Possible bulbs:

Internal; http://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/son-e-400w-ges-i/p2235/
External: http://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/son-e-400w-ges/p2242/

Retrofit, assuming external: http://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/elliptical-metal-halide-400w-e40-mercuryson-retro-fit/p3492/

Can you post up photos of the control gear? A lamp with an internal igniter will only have a ballast and probably a capacitor in the control gear whereas the other type will have a separate igniter as well.
