Bump and grind

Thanks for all your help Craig - i will post back how I went on.

I have tried loosening that valve but nothing appears to exhaust from it?

I will try again tomoorw.

Hole in one for you!

Nick

Could be the rubber seat has stuck to the top of valve over the pin hole. You may need to undo it further and manually prise it off. Be ready for water to squirt out though

I did as craig suggested but didnt get any air or water out of the valve?

When on heating and water the system is quiet, but with heating only it still knocks a lot!

I have had the immersion on but the mrs claims there is not much hot water.

gas4you - the little cap seems to screw right off but no water escapes? should it?

Yes it should !
poke a bit of fuse wire/pin down inside and get ready with cap

Bob - should the system be running or off? before I poke the pin in?

Is there a little air gallery that blocks up over time?

Should I let a little escape before replacing the cap?

Thanks

Normally you would open the cap let out the air and when you see water close it.
I would bleed it with the system off then run it for an hour and bleed again doing this until you have removed the air.
Air may not be the main problem.

I pinned it and got some air out -- I will do as you say and come back to you.

Thanks Bob

Still not working properly. It seems that on hot water only I am getting a lot of pipe banging and poor performance of the system. The central heating seems OK.

Aay ideas before I call in a professional.
