burning smell from baxi 105e

hi, we have a baxi 105e and up until this morning working fine.noticed slight burning smell in boiler cupboard, then about 15mins later noheat/h.water.turned off eletric to boiler then back on now there is no lights on boiler at all. i know i gotta get a corgi bloke in, i just need to know what causes this and is it something which is not really expensive or is it new boiler.

Unfortunately it could be any number of things. Could be as straightforward as a loose wire that's been arcing to needing a new pcb. I doubt it needs a new boiler but depends on what has caused the damage in the first place, if it's been leaking from the main heat exchanger on to an electrical component you have to weigh up the cost of replacing all the damaged bits against that of a new boiler.

Usually you would suspect pump but i have had a couple of 105e`s that have had the boards actually start to melt and end up charred ,on the underside that cannot be seen without taking the board out.
