butt joint two pieces o worktop

i have a run of worktop 2metres and one of 1 metre i need to butt joint to a good snug finish ,reason for the joint is the kitchen wall is 3" further back , so one small bit sticks out the 3" at the bull nose with a bit of edging stuck on .Am i best routing it or circular saw from the underside thanks

A router with a nice new bit on will give a far superior finish than a circular saw.
