Buzzing Bulbs

I have replaced normal bulbs with energy saving bulbs in my hall. I have noticed that one or two of the new bulbs emit a buzzing sound. Can anyone explain why - do I have duff bulbs ? or what ? If it helps, the circuit does not have a dimmer.

Maybe you have daff bulbs?

What sort of lamps have you got?

The lamp bodies are recessed into the ceiling of the hall

The buzzing is probably caused by either:-

(a) Sympathetic 50hz hum

(b) Electronic inverter whistle within the body of the lamp
