Never sub a percieved matchwinner - Owen - The opposition would not have dared leave him unsupervised, so even if not on form he could have effectively taken one of their players out of the game ..
Bobby Charlton subbed in Mexico IIRC he was uninjured just a tad warm, Franz B was let loose - we lost a game we were winning, Alf failed miserably to notice their playmaker, with Germanic efficiency was tied to marking Bobby C.
Physical frailty other than injury is a joke at this level !!

When will we have a Goalie as good as Banks again? We do not currently have a world class keeper.
