C/H OK H/W WORKS ONLY WITH C/H

I currently have an old potterton gas boiler (not sure about model, perhaps between 40el - 80el)

It has a RANDALL 4033 CONTROLL.

The C/H works fine and independantly as and when I want it. I can switch on the C/H, and the boiler ignites and everything is fine. The H/W however doesnt work independantly anymore, If I switch just H/W on, nothing happens, in order to get hot water on, I have to switch the C/H on aswell.

Can anyone help me with identifyin gthe problem here?.
