I have a BT socket in the dining room at the back of the house and one upstairs. I would like to have a socket in the living room at the front of the house. Can I use the grey (slide cover type) junction box by my front door and route a cable to the living room from outside after drilling the wall?

Do you mean the master box ? Technically yes. But I wouldn't advise it as this is BT s wiring and if you mess anytthing up and call them out they will charge you severely. Best bet is to take it from the master scoket

The other problem is that if you take it from the grey box, you will be "star wiring" the system which can cause broadband problems.
