Can anyone tell me if it is possible to wire a 8.5kw shower using 6mm T/E. The length of run is 5 metres and is clipped direct also can you tell me the mcb size. Cheers

40A MCB (shower will use 36A @ 230V). 6mm cable hasa max on 46A so it can be used, however i would recommed using 10mm incase you get a more powerful shower in the future

Cheers Andrew
Its an upgrade from a 7.5kw shower, the wife wanted a 9.6kw but I wasnt keen on replacing the existing 6mm cable to a 10mm

Over that distance using 8.5kw isnt a problem, but if installing from new always go for the 10mm for future upgrades
