I am replacing a caliper on Saturday cross threaded bleed valve bummer slap me am a leaner

But my other side has slider arms stuck so I can only fit 1 new pad in and leave the old (3mm left) pad in it, and itsa got an MOT sometime next week

Will the MOT centre spot the different thickness pads and fail it?

I can remove the caliper and maybe prize off the sliders could I then simply rub the slide arms with a scouring pads and grease with the correct greaser, is it as easy as that?

Please help, worlds massive noob!

Ty

The MOT people won't fail you on the thickness of the brake pads - so long as the brakes stop the car evenly and to spec then that will be ok.
Most caliper sliders just unscrew from the caliper securing bracket....which vehicle is this, and can you send a pic?

When I removed the caliper to install 2 new pads it took a huge amount of effort to force the piston back in, using a halfords wind back tool. Being confined to my wheel arch cos of brake cable and brake hose not much room for swinging a hammer to loosen the slider so I just left it with 1 new and 1 old, grr

Seeing as I am replacing the whole caliper on other side I may as-well take off the other one and try to release the slider

Just want to make sure I have all the right kit before I undertake this task as I dont have another car currently get a lift to work from a work colleague!! grr

dunno if its the same on a zaffy as on a galaxy, but there has been a lot of arguments about undoing the bleed screw when using the wind back tool,to stop the seals from flipping?

WD 40 applied to the slider and left to soak overnight, should free up slider, once moving use wire brush then fine wet and dry paper to remove rust, lubricate with either moly grease or copaslip.

I'd go along with that. Especially the Copaslip. I use it on more or less anything that comes off the car. Usually keeps things free for ages, and makes taking them off again much easier.
