Camera Lithium-ion batteries, and holding charge and recharging.

I got the camera minus the battery charger, and had to buy a charger which takes two batteries and charges them off a USB supply. Camera not used much, and around a year ago, found most my batteries were discharged and would not charge, well getting on a bit, so looked for replacements, and it was actually cheaper to get two batteries and another twin battery charger to just getting batteries so that is what I did.

So out of interest put old batteries in new charger, and it charged them. So now 6 batteries for the camera, but DSLR is not used much, so today again came to charge batteries, the new ones still seem fully charged, the one left in camera totally discharged, and the other three seemed to be in a varying state of charge.

For some reason camera batteries do seem to have a very low self discharge, but also they seem to recharge very slowly. The camera came out end of 2010 and my sister bought it soon after released, so the oldest battery around 15 years old. What sort of life should I expect from the batteries, and does it matter if allowed to fully discharge over time.

Sometimes.
Really flat batteries need putting in charger for hours and they suddenly spring to life.
The best way is use a higher amperage charger if possible and leave for hours and they spring to life.
Is the old and new charger same amperage?


As for life expectancy 10 years I was told because they degrade inside.
