Hi Guys.

My Camray 5 has suddenly started belching smoke, just had it serviced 5 weeks ago !
Got it sorted, but just out of interest,...

When adjusting the air shutter, which way opens the shutter for more air and which way closes it ? It's sitting between 4 and 5 at the moment. So is 1 fully open or fully closed ?

Also what would have suddenly made it start smoking ? We have had hagh winds, would that have done anything ?

Cheers,

Dons

The air shutter should have been checked and set by your service engineer and should not be adjusted once set. 1 is fully closed and in this position the boiler will belch out black smoke. Hence the position at which you say it is set would have been done by the service engineer using a combustion analyzer for the correct air to fuel ratio. Any setting below this will cause sooting

many thanks,

I haven't touched it. Before the service it was between 4 - 5 . So it looks like he's closed it down too much,.. cough, splutter !
