Can a 3 way valve be stuck in neutral?

Just to confirm, the boiler fired up and when the burner switched off in ch mode the pump ran on for 2.5 mins

Hi Ian, I do appreciate the help and since your advice that it was the pump over run I haven't posed any more suggestions or questions about other parts. All I have done is give feedback on how it's going.

The quote above is a response to how long the pump runs once the burner goes out. The video you saw was the pressure rising which caused the boiler to cut the burner and pump at the same time. Your suggestion was the only one I put to the engineer (bearing in mind people dont like being told their job) and he confirmed the pump runs after the burner has stopped.

I'm not a heating specialist nor do I intent on sorting the problem myself and as per everyone's advice I got an engineer. My questions were for personal interest only and ll I can do is report back how things are going.

Thanks to everyone again, the boiler is working when I got up this morning but I'll report back

It sounds like nothing more than a dodgy high resistance connection on the PCB that has now been rectified. But what do I know?

More likely the plumber did not clear the boiler of air when he changed the pump .

I'm probably going to get some stick here but I don't think Joe is far of the mark on this one
I think the pump may have been losing power intermitantly due to a bad connection at the boiler
If all is ok now then just for piece of mind one thing I would be asking your engineer to check is that the overheat stat is ok And that it hasn't been bypassed
