I am looking to boost the power of a new shower I'm installing in an ensuite, and have bought a 2.6bar hot/cold pump.

I just thought...if coupled up to the hot and cold water pipes, can this implode my hot water tank as it pulls more than can supply?

Hopefully this is a silly concern but help / advice would be greatly received.

Thanks

DIA What sort of cylinder would it implode and why in non fault conditions

it is due to the negative pressure created in the HW cylinder where a shower pump is used.

Certain situations such as an undersized cold feed and partially blocked or undersized open vent can cause the cylinder to cave in.

But you would need an unusual set of circumstances, as I think Namsag suggests.

It would need a fault condition or bad installation.

The question was "could it happen" and the answer is yes it could.

No Probs, I've seen some interesting pump installation over the years, including one on the outlet of an unvented.
