Ive just had my boiler repaired by a qualified chappie , and what went wrong was a build up of black iron oxide , mainly in the 'plate heat exchanger' . Now he said it will probably happen again in time , so recommended a magnaclean unit to be fitted . Having read up on it , I was wondering if i could fit one without having to perform a 'power flush' ? or would you guys recommend flushing the system out aswell? which sounds expensive . My C.H system and boiler is about 20 months old by the way .
Thanks .

Quite frankly, no you dont have to power flush the system. Retro fit a Spirovent, add system cleaner and run heating for a while, flush out a couple of times and clean again. flush out add system inhibitor and ther you go.

power flush if rads have cold spots, wont heat up or system is full of crap.
