Can anyone identify the terminals on a Friedland 454 chime?

Assuming that you are looking for the door bell transformer, it could be in your consumer unit (fuse box).

To find out where the wiring is?

All we know is

so potentially only 2 wires (one cable) entering the chime.

Missed that - I was using Bernard's diagram in #4 which says the old transformer can be disconnected, a new one installed "anywhere".

Is that what they mean, or “we cannot find the same kind of transformer for sale” ?
Since they mentioned the transformer being connected together with the bell push I'd definitely read it as the former - if they knew where the transformer is they could simply bridge its terminals and use batteries instead.

Might be useful to have a diagram of how Luisite's bell is wired, or thought to be wired. If it's known which wires come from the transformer I can't see why they can't be disconnected from the bell terminals and a new one connected.

Or if that's just me I'll go away and be quiet.

Potentially it could be wired like this

with no known location of the centre area

Exactly,

Exactly, unless I find the transformer, I will not be able to use the push button by the door again. I think it might be buried on the walls because I cannot find it anywhere.

The fuse box looks rather new compared with the rest of the house, and it is not there. It could be that it is behind.

have you verified the chime works? it can bechecked by touching a 9v battery against 3&4 (top & bottom on the left)

you may find a join behind the chime as the 2 wires are from different cables

No, I haven't yet. I assume it is working because it worked before the overtension, which affected only to instruments plugged to the 220 V.
