Hi,
I have stripped out my fire and looking to make a steel frame to then rivet the register plate to. Most frames are bolted in but I was thinking of cutting two pieces of box section steel and fixing them into the stone wall with mortar. It is a lime built stone chimney so there are a couple of decent sized hollows where the old mortar has come out. I can level them up and fix them in place with the new lime mortar.
Any issue with this?
Thanks
