Hello
Is it a bad idea to top-up wall insulation ?
I have a 1920s detached house and I have been told by a couple of guys who were adding wall insulation to the house next door that I already had insulation in my walls. I confirmed this when I replaced the front door and could see into the cavity walls. The insulation is a very thin layer of fibreglass wool. I think it may have been added in the 1970s. There are tennis ball size filled in holes in the brickwork which I believe is how they used to do add insulation in the 70s. The walls get very cold in the winter time and we do suffer from condensation on the walls.
The guys who told me that we already had it, said that it was not a good idea to top-up the insulation as it may cause dampness - is this true ?
Thanks
DB
